The Goat has for decades inspired fear down the quarter mile and excitement cruising on a Saturday night. The Pontiac GTO will go down in history as a corner stone of the muscle car industry. Many people all over the States have fond memories of family, friends and the occasional Friday night drive in in this cool car. Now is the time to buy one if you can.
Who could argue the point, check out this recent listing on www.customcarsales.com.au In two days it received over 100 hits And if your interested you should contact the seller today.
The most common saying I hear about the GTO is that it first went on sale in 1964 and that was the moment the muscle car era began.
The letters GTO don't just sound cool, Pontiac seems to have been very taken with the Ferrari 250 GTO. GTO in the Ferrari 250 stood for "Gran Turismo Omologato," which translated means "Grand Touring Homologation." Which means the Ferrari was built purely for the race track.
I found many references on the history of th GTO series at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_GTO and http://www.edmunds.com/pontiac/gto/history.html you will find a great read at either of these sites.
If you want rare collector GTO then take a look at this 1971 Pontiac GTO Judge convertible. it is 1 of only 17 with the specs and colour and is said to be only 1 of 2 still existing. This one is offered for sale by Best of Show Automotive in Mentor Ohio. I have to say these guys are one of the US best dealers I have seen. They take a minimum of 30 photos for each car and do a comprehensive description. Their process for accepting a car is like a private school application so you know your buying exactly what is being shown to you.
Cheers
Janson
